Well, I have heard people talk about it, and I have gone looking for it, BUT, on Sunday I used my usual method of discovery. I just simply bumped into it.

"It", is the shear wave up the side of a cloud.

I could  not get that last little bit of height under the cloud. The thermal just petered out and broke up. So, having given up I flew to the western edge of the cloud, got clear of the cloud (just). and turned left to Stanthorpe.

Oops, I am in lift. Oh well, I guess I will just have to see what happens next.

Topped out at about 15,700 feet. Nice to be able to see the tops of clouds. Also very smooth air.
